Does your workplace (physical environment) stress you out? Everyday tasks, projects and deadlines can be improved if you make changes to your office settings and add decorative plants at strategic places.
Most people spend a large proportion of their life at work, so even small effects may have great practical significance on their overall productivity. Office plants may be one of the most simple but effective ways to keep workers satisfied and focused.
Studies have found that employees do better at work when surroundings are filled with even the most minimal plants. After studying the issue for 10 years, Dr Chris Knight from Exeter University and his fellow psychologists, concluded that employees were 15% more productive when “lean” workplaces are filled with just a few houseplants.
In another study, employees with windows that overlook vegetation report themselves much more satisfied than those with a view of other buildings and sidewalks.
Plants, photographs, inspiring artwork, books, a decorative accessory, changes in light or even smell could be used to boost happiness and productivity. Marketing research has shown that approximately 80% of what we perceive or experience is based upon the visual sense of our environment.
The reasons to invest in office plants are endless. This infographic, designed by Plant Care, explains the effects of plants on the office environment.
